OH…MY….GOD! I just couldn’t put this book down.
Seriously, if you like a good thriller such as ‘Gone Girl’ or ‘The Couple Next Door’, you need to get this book immediately.
The blurb on the back reads:
“Newlyweds Jake and Alice are offered a mysterious wedding gift – membership of a club which promises it’s couples will never divorce. Signing The Pact seems the start to a perfect marriage. Until one of them breaks the rules. The marriage of their dreams is about to become their worst nightmare. Because The Pact is for life. And it’s members will do anything to make sure no-one leaves”
Intriguing eh?
This was the first non-Kindle book I’d bought in ages, so my husband wasn’t thrilled at me keeping him awake long into the early hours with the bedside light firmly on, accompanied by the sound of frequent page turning. I was quite pleased that we hadn’t signed The Pact ourselves, as I think either one of us could have been thrown into Marriage Jail as I frantically read my way through this bad boy, while he tossed and turned next to me with the right hump.
Fast paced, with cliff hangers at the end of every chapter, the author ensures that you can’t put the book down unless you a) finish it, b) have a heart attack from suspense, or c) your partner shouts at you at 4am to ‘turn the bloody light off!’
But then the torch just came out….
You think I’m kidding?
Seriously, all the way through the book the author keeps you in a state of turmoil. Is Jake going mad? Has Alice done anything wrong? Does Alice know more than we think? Is The Pact actually a great idea gone wrong or is it a terrifying sect? Sorry, but I’m not going to tell you…
You’ll jut have to read it yourself.
However, the one piece of advice I would give is this……whenever you sign something, always read the small print!
